‘B’ Western Movies of 1950’s

Last week I passed by the window of John Tolley Antiques on the way home from King’s Church in Catford Hill London and there was a group of photographs on display. I like collecting old photographs so when the shop opened again I purchased them. It was only a group of four 8″ x 10″ prints from the USA published by the 20th Century Fox Studio, two depicted scenes from Western Movies, a third image was of the movie star Kathleen Crowley. On the reverse  of these three prints was the name of the film ‘The Quiet Gun’, which I found came out in 1957. The fourth print had no details so dear reader if you recognize the film or the actors I would welcome the information. My friend Angela told me that theses publicity photographs were issued alongside the posters to accompany the film when it was issued to the Cinema.                                                                                                     the-quiet-gun-1957-a

Kathleen Crowley, interesting to note that this scene does not appear in the film, nor the cowboy !!! This role is played by Forrest Tucker and the characters do not kiss on screen. The only conclusion is that this image came from an early screen test.

Here is another scene that does not appear on screen, the film cast the actor Lee Van Cleef as the bad guy and has no ‘gang’ with him. So another mystery ! The director moves to a distant view of the main street and the shooting is not shown in any detail.

Here is the last photograph, this image is from a film but no details are shown on this image. I would imagine this still dates from the late 1950’s but will require a bit of detective work to find out which one. So dear reader if you recognize the female actor  or the film please let me know.
